First comes Thanksgiving, then comes Black Friday and Cyber Monday, then #GivingTuesday. Never heard of it? On Tuesday, November 29, a global day of giving is being celebrated, fueled by the sharing power of social media. According to the official event site, this day kicks off the charitable season, when many people focus on holiday/year-end philanthropic acts and donations.

Giving back is a major component of the culture here at Collective Bias. We have an internal group called CB Cares that has a mission of supporting and empowering CB’s employees as they make our communities stronger, by providing leadership for effective philanthropy, advocacy, and volunteerism.

Wondering how you can give back on #GivingTuesday? The possibilities are endless and can start right at your computer. As the official movement puts it, “it’s a simple idea. Whether you come together with your family, your community, your company or your organization, find a way to give back and then share your idea.”

Are you an individual looking for some solo ideas? Here’s some ideas from the official movement:

  • Search for nonprofits in your area and see how they can use your help
  • Post a #MyGivingStory on social media to inspire others to get involved
  • Volunteer your time to a local food bank, women’s shelter, animal services department or any other nonprofit
  • Donate to a charity
  • Search for pro bono opportunities to utilize your best skills for charity

Are you part of an organization looking to get involved? Join the over 40,000 organizations that have been a part of the #GivingTuesday movement including small businesses and Fortune 500 companies. Click here for a full list of ideas and resources to jumpstart your organization’s involvement.

Just remember, how matter how you give back or what you give back, you’re making an incredible impact on your community. Cheers!
